Barn Owl
A barn owl's face fills a ten by eight sheet, drawn in fine pen and ink — the heart-shaped facial disc, the dark eyes, the radiating feather lines. Signed and dated by the artist. Matsumoto works in the tradition of Japanese bird-and-flower printmaking and this ink drawing is the underdrawing discipline that tradition rests on.
