Pam Ingalls constructs layered compositions where architectural forms dissolve into atmospheric abstractions. In *Portals*, oil paint is applied in successive veils, creating depth through translucency rather than linear perspective. Doorways and thresholds emerge and recede across the canvas surface, their edges softened by overlapping washes of pigment. The work operates between representation and abstraction, suggesting passage and enclosure without asserting either definitively.
